This tool was first released in April of 2006.
Rather than navigating step-by-step through your folder hierarchy -- view your folders quickly and go directly to any location with a single click.
Explorer Breadcrumbs is an add-in for Windows Explorer which contains a contextual series of buttons that allows you to quickly see and navigate through the entire folder hierarchy without leaving the current window.
You're free to install this on any number of machines for any amount of time. We ask that if you find this software useful, that you register it for the low low price of $7.95. That's cheaper than seeing a movie, and we'd really appreciate it. Click the button below if you'd like to register, and thank you very much if you do.
Q. What OSes will the Explorer Breadcrumbs work with?
A. We've targeted Windows XP. It should also work on Windows 2003, 2000, and 98/ME (please let us know if you're runnning it successfully on one of these platforms so we can update this Q, we've only tested it on XP). On Windows XP, it's themed properly with your current theme.
Q. On some of my network drives, the pulldown menus indicate that there are subfolders for every folder in the pulldown; however, when I roll over the actual folder, the arrow goes away.
A. This is by design and follows the Microsoft-sanctioned rules for subfolders. Specifically, if we don't get back an answer from the OS in a reasonable amount of time, we're supposed to show the arrow "in case" so the interface stays responsive. We were going to put a link to the Microsoft guideline that talks about this, but we can't find it now.
Q. How do I register and/or pay for Explorer Breadcrumbs?
A. See registration, above. If you use paypal, feel free to paypal the $7.95 to register@minimalist.com - the download is feature complete and will not nag you for money.
Q. No matter how many times I install the supercool Explorer Breadcrumbs, nothing happens. What gives?
A. There are a few issues that could relate to this:
