Minimalist is headquartered in Santa Monica, California, and is made up of Kurt Koller and his collaborators, both local and abroad.

A new version of Minimalist was formed in September of 2023, and in the parlance of the times we’re calling it a reboot. We’re back and better than ever.

Minimalist was originally born in 1997, when as a successful software architect and developer, Kurt went out into the world looking for interesting new challenges — the challenges that evolving technologies, smarter audiences, and faster download times bring. Minimalist built up a track record where the quality of work speaks for itself, and we are confident that our clients will tell you the same.

That iteration of Minimalist was dissolved at the end of 2016 after 20 years. (See “Project Omega” for the story there.) Minimalist has taken on projects for big clients like Merck, Pfizer, Astra Zeneca, Microsoft, AOL, Area/Code (Zynga NYC), A&E TV Networks, Growing Family Inc., Ziff Davis Media, Bank of America, Local Projects, and many more, developing websites, games, experiential promotional events/technology, and mobile applications.
